Motivation - Mind Fuel
The information you allow into your mind is analogous to "food" for the brain.
The brain gets nutrients from food the same way our bodies do, of course.
Yet people often say things like "brainfood" when talking about information inputs, because information helps us learn, and our brains (knowledge/wisdom) to grow (create more, stronger neural pathways), similar to the way nutritious food supports the body.
When you consider the relationship between food and the body in more depth, there are exciting applications to improve your life.
Just as we can get better physical results by being very intentional with our food intake, we can also get better mental results by being very intentional with our information intake.
When we provide our bodies with the right amount of the right kinds of healthy food, our bodies respond by getting and staying healthier.
When we combine that formula with a proper exercise routine, our results multiply!
To get the physical results we desire, we just discover and adopt healthy nutrition and exercise habits, rooted in our physical goals.
Applying this to the mental food analogy, to get the mental results we desire, we simply identify and implement the right mixture of healthy information habits, as well as healthy mental exertion habits.
This logic can be applied to any area of growth –
mental
spiritual
physical
emotional
We are zooming in on information inputs and mental exertion because our goal is better influence over our own mindset.
"Success is attitude"
What could be more foundational to manifesting our dreams than continually growing in connection with self and influence over our mindset?
That combination executed with excellence is a level of mental toughness (confidence and resilience) is unstoppable in the face of anything
No one fails who refuses to fail!
So how do we decide which habits to adopt to have the success we want? Begin with the end in mind.
To allow yourself growing influence over your mindset, therefore exponentially increasing your ability to achieve your goals and reach your dreams, we need to provide healthy "food", information, and proper exercise (intentional mental exertion).
What is healthy brain food?
What are your goals? The brainfood you need are things that align with your goals.
Books, articles, and trainings that help you grow in any area in which you desire to manifest growth.
Research and knowledge and connections in areas that are vital to helping you achieve your goals.
Videos, audiobooks, and podcasts that align with your goals or skills you need to develop.
Group or individual training or coaching that improves your mindset, skills, motivation, accountability, or all of the above!
Putting healthy food in is step 1 – you also need to get rid of junk food for your brain. Eliminate or reduce:
News that keeps your brain anxious about the future or depressed about the past.
Social media that increases self-doubt or decreases self-worth/self-confidence.
Gossip/complaining/chatter from people around you who are not focused on achieving goals the way you are.
Anything else that results in worry, regret, or frustration about things you cannot control.
What is intentional mental exertion? (aka “exercise”)
Mindfulness and intentional self reflection and action/values-goals alignment sessions.
Getting comfortable being uncomfortable - lean in! Discomfort is where the growing and the manifestation happens!
Create an intentional plan to fuel your mind with what it needs to grow and flourish! Pick a time, select content ahead of time, and prioritize this time in your schedule like you would an important meeting - or mealtimes :)
